The New Group of World Servers,
Who they are – Why they serve – What they do – How they do it

Maryann Miller, Msc.D

The term, New Group of World Servers, was first used In 1932 by Alice Bailey. Since then, interest in metaphysics, mysticism, or esotericism has been significantly on the rise in the US and throughout the world. Many of IFGT’s members throughout the world count themselves as members of this New Group of World Servers. So let’s explore who they are, why they serve, what their mission is, and how they go about it.

Who are the New Group of World Servers?

“The New Group of World Servers is a functioning active group. Every man and woman in every country, who is working to heal the breaches between people, to evoke the sense of brotherhood, to foster the sense of mutual inter-relation, and who sees no racial, national, or religious barriers, is a member of the New Group of World Servers, even if they have never heard of it in these terms. The New Group of World Servers is not an organization. It has no headquarters but only units of service throughout the world; it has no president or lists of officers; it has only servers in every country. ”[i]

Members of this group are keenly aware of the interconnectedness and oneness of all life. They are a subjective group with specific tasks. “All around us in our increasingly interdependent world, we see evidence of the Group’s pioneering efforts to transform human relationships in all spheres of life. The challenge facing intelligent, thoughtful people of goodwill today is how to enhance their own participation in the life of the Group and how to most usefully support the members of the Group.”[ii]

Why were they formed?

Around 1400 AD there was an increasing movement within humanity toward segmentation into religious affiliation, wealth, nationality, race, individualism, and separateness. This growing movement was regarded as destructive to the forward progress of humanity into the awareness of themselves as One human family who manifests with unlimited diversity.

This increasing concern prompted the Spiritual Hierarchy[iii] to focus on ways to counter this movement. Around 1500 AD, they established a select group of advanced metaphysical students whose purpose was and is to advance humanity into expanded, higher states of consciousness. This was to be accomplished through their thoughts, words, and actions in every aspect of life. One such service that resulted from their efforts is the dissemination of what has become known as the ageless wisdom teachings.  This knowledge, which is disseminated by well and little known esoteric/metaphysical individuals, groups, and organizations is now widely taught throughout the world. It is designed to educate individuals in knowledge and practices that lead to self-mastery that is then put into everyday practical actions and activities for the betterment of humanity and the planet.

Members of this world service group, among many others, have included Leanardo Davinci, Socrates, Pythagoras, Plato, Sir Francis Bacon, Madam Blavatsky, Alice Bailey, Rudolf Steiner, H. Spencer Lewis, Manly Palmer Hall, and Paramahansa Yogananda,. Today, many renowned physicists and scientists, as well as millions of ordinary world citizens count themselves among this community and consciously or unconsciously work to advance the Oneness of the humanity family and world goodwill.

What is the purpose and task of the New Group of World Servers?

The New Group of World Servers’ task is to live and model Oneness within diversity. As is well known, actions always speak louder than words. Their service includes every area of life -absolutely no area is left out. This means World Servers can be found in every area of life from the very lowest to the highest. Their efforts help generate a sense of belonging, self-worth, security, relevance, meaning, inclusiveness, oneness, etc. that, along with their other areas of service, produce tipping points that will culminate in a global Age of Awakening for all humanity.

How do they serve?

They serve according to their soul’s distinct promptings and as necessitated by local or world needs. Their service may include “cultural, political, scientific, religious, philosophical, psychological or financial requirements. It is said that “they constitute part of the inner group of workers for humanity, and of the world mystics, whether they know it or not.”[iv]

“Humanity is not following a haphazard or uncharted course—there is a Plan of Love and Light. Humanity determines the speed of its own evolution and the fulfillment of its own destiny under the Plan. The success of the Plan depends upon the intelligent co-operation of all men and women of goodwill everywhere in the world. People of goodwill who co-operate form part of the New Group of World Servers which is working to implement the Plan. The leaders of the New Group of World Servers are those who initiate and carry forward activities that benefit humanity as a whole. These leaders are known by the harmlessness of their thought, the inclusiveness of their actions, and the creative power of their daily lives.”

It is interesting that some seem to recognize one another as a kindred spirit almost instantly when meeting for the first time. It’s like meeting an old friend whom you haven’t seen in a very long time and catching up with one another. They seem to leave a permanent impression that transcends time and space. This is not such an unusual occurrence for the New Group of World Servers. The Institute For Global Transformation™ has an additional name for this group; we call them Change-Makers and we are connecting with one another at ever increasing speeds. So, welcome, it is great meeting you! We hope to get to know you even better.

[iii] Spiritual Hierarchy is that group of spiritual beings on the inner planes who are the intelligent forces of nature, and who control the evolutionary processes. Throughout time, the idea of a group of wise and enlightened beings working behind the scenes to guide our planet has been conveyed in spiritual teachings, in literature and myth. The group has been known by many names, including the spiritual Hierarchy, the Masters of the Wisdom, the Elder Brothers , the rishis of India, and the Communion of Saints. During times of crisis in human affairs great teachers have emerged from the Hierarchy into the world of time and space. These have included Socrates, Shri Krishna, Mohammed, the Buddha and the Christ. The Spiritual Hierarchy can be understood as reservoirs of lighted, loving energy on the inner side of life – a presence in the higher reaches of consciousness. It is these energies and these Beings that shape the evolving sense of purpose and direction in human affairs, and that are awakening us now as a species to a new understanding of oneness.
