Interview with Dr. Maryann Miller at the IFGT Round Table Conference in North Hollywood

Pamela: Maryann, what inspired you to create a Round Table devoted to the transformation of consciousness?

Maryann: I felt there was an essential need to bring together visionary leaders, speakers, and thinkers who understand that consciousness is not simply a private or personal matter. The way we think, the values we hold, and the choices we make influence our relationships, our professions, our communities, and ultimately the world.

No single discipline holds all the answers. That is why the diversity of the Round Table is so important. Its members bring knowledge and experience from many different fields, including science and engineering, medicine, education, philosophy, business, and the arts. Each person offers a different window into the exploration of consciousness. When these perspectives are brought together, we begin to see a much larger picture. We discover practical ways to apply higher consciousness not only in our spiritual lives, but also in our workplaces, institutions, creative endeavors, and everyday decisions.

Through their presentations, articles, books, and conversations, Round Table members help make the exploration of consciousness relevant to real life. They demonstrate that transformation is not merely something we contemplate. It’s something we practice and express through the way we live.

Pamela: The Round Table’s tagline is One World, Aligned Actions, Infinite Possibilities. What does that mean to you?

Maryann: Those few words express the heart of our vision.

One World reminds us that, beneath our differences, humanity shares one planet, one future, and one interconnected life. Our cultures, experiences, beliefs, and talents may be beautifully diverse, but the challenges facing humanity affect us all.

Aligned Actions speaks to the power that is created when people unite around a higher purpose. Alignment doesn’t mean that everyone must think alike or contribute in the same way. It means that our different gifts and efforts are directed toward a shared intention, such as healing the planet, uplifting humanity, strengthening relationships, and creating systems that honor the dignity of all life.

When intention and action are aligned, our individual efforts begin to reinforce one another. What one person could never accomplish alone becomes possible through cooperation, shared vision, and focused purpose.

That is where Infinite Possibilities comes in. We cannot always see what may emerge when conscious, committed people come together, but new ideas can arise, relationships form, projects can begin, and doors open that none of us could have anticipated. The Round Table represents our willingness to enter that field of possibility together.

Pamela: This team seems very different from most advisory groups or leadership teams. What makes it unique?

Maryann: We are attempting to create a new model of leadership and collaboration. Traditional groups are often formed around a predetermined product, project, or outcome. The IFGT’s Round Table began with a deeper question: How can we use higher consciousness to respond to some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity and the planet?

When these leaders first came together for a Round Table Conference, they brought more than professional credentials. They brought curiosity, critical thinking, spiritual insight, life experience, and a willingness to listen to perspectives beyond their own fields of expertise. That created an unusually rich conversation. Scientists could hear from philosophers. Educators could exchange ideas with artists. Business leaders could explore the human consequences of the systems they help shape, and spiritual thinkers could consider how timeless wisdom might be translated into practical action.

The purpose was not to promote one philosophy or impose one solution. It was to explore what becomes possible when people from very different backgrounds approach global concerns through a more conscious, compassionate, and collaborative way of thinking.

Pamela: How do you measure the success of something so visionary?

Maryann: We do not measure success only by the production of a particular program, conference, or publication. Those things matter, but they are not the whole measure. Success begins with our willingness to come together. It is found in our courage to enter the unknown, to remain open to new ideas, and to continue working together even when the path ahead has not yet been fully defined. It is reflected in our ability to move beyond competition and individual recognition so that we can ask what will truly serve humanity and the planet.

The individuals who participate in the Round Table already carry significant responsibilities. Their schedules are demanding, and their time is valuable. Yet they are willing to offer their knowledge, experience, and insight because they recognize the importance of this moment in human history. And that willingness is itself meaningful. It demonstrates that people from many areas of life are ready to move beyond simply identifying the world’s problems. They are ready to explore how consciousness, wisdom, cooperation, and aligned action can become part of the solution.

Pamela: It sounds as though the deeper purpose of the Round Table is to help raise consciousness in every area of life.

Maryann: Yes, that is exactly right.

We are living at a pivotal time. Humanity is facing serious planetary, social, economic, and ethical challenges. At the same time, a profound shift in awareness is taking place. More people are recognizing that our choices are interconnected. There is growing concern for the health of the planet, greater awareness of the importance of relationships, and a stronger desire to help others discover and develop their unique gifts. We’re also witnessing increasing calls for equality, ethical responsibility in business and government, compassionate leadership, meaningful service, and a new understanding of success. Success can no longer be defined only by wealth, status, or personal achievement. It must also include the well-being of people, communities, future generations, and the Earth itself.

This emerging consciousness is expressed in many different ways. One person may work through environmental stewardship. Another may transform education, medicine, public policy, business, science, or the arts. Someone else may serve through healing, community building, spiritual teaching, or volunteering. The outer forms are different, but the deeper impulse is often the same: to contribute to a more conscious, just, peaceful, and sustainable world.

Pamela: How does the Round Table help connect people who share that deeper impulse?

Maryann: One of our primary goals is to help individuals, groups, and organizations recognize that they are not working alone.

There are people throughout the world who are already contributing to the transformation of consciousness. Many are serving within their own professions, communities, and areas of expertise without realizing how many others share their concerns and aspirations. We want to help create a living web of connection among them.

When people discover one another, they can exchange knowledge, strengthen one another’s efforts, develop new projects, and avoid unnecessarily duplicating work. A relationship that begins with one conversation may eventually lead to a program, a service, a publication, a community initiative, or an entirely new approach to an old problem.

As this web grows, it can become a global network of people who are contributing in their own unique ways while remaining aligned with a larger purpose. Their methods may differ, but they share a commitment to raising consciousness and improving life on this planet. Pamela: What kinds of activities grow out of the Round Table’s work?

Maryann: The Round Table creates opportunities for meaningful dialogue, shared learning, and practical collaboration.

Members explore ideas and initiatives that can help uplift consciousness, strengthen communities, and support the healing of the planet. They examine how advanced and more conscious ways of thinking can be applied in practical settings, including business, science, medicine, public policy, education, the arts, and everyday life. The Round Table also helps connect people who may be able to develop transformational projects, products, services, and educational resources together.

Communication is another important part of the work. Through film, digital media, articles, books, interviews, and other forms of public outreach, the Institute seeks to share ideas that inform, inspire, and encourage people to see themselves as participants in global transformation. Our intention is not simply to talk about change; it is to help conscious ideas take form in the real world.

Pamela: What would you most like people to understand about the emerging global consciousness?

Maryann: I would like people to understand that the changes we are witnessing are not only signs of disruption. They may also be signs of emergence.

Old systems and beliefs are being questioned because they no longer adequately serve the needs of humanity or the planet. This can be uncomfortable and, at times, deeply unsettling. Yet periods of transformation often require us to examine what we have accepted, imagine what could be better, and develop the courage to create new possibilities.

The Round Table seeks to support this emergence by encouraging people to think more deeply, reach beyond the boundaries of their individual experience, and interact in ways that reflect greater wisdom and compassion.We want to help move humanity toward higher standards in every area of life. That includes a deeper respect for human dignity, a more ethical use of power and resources, greater responsibility for the Earth, and a genuine appreciation for the beauty and value of our diversity.

Each person has a role in this transformation. Not everyone will serve in the same way, and no contribution is too small when it arises from conscious intention. When we recognize that we are part of one world, align our actions with a higher purpose, and bring our unique gifts into relationship with the gifts of others, possibilities begin to appear that we could never have created alone. That is the promise of the Round Table, and it is the meaning behind our service.
