RESPONSE

Handling Today’s Accelerated Life Experiences

Dr. Michael Mason

problems in lifeToday’s accelerated pace of life offers us countless opportunities for growth, even though those opportunities can sometimes arrive disguised as stress, uncertainty, conflict, or change. During challenging and demanding times, it is especially important to remember that the thoughts, beliefs, and expectations we hold in both our conscious and subconscious minds influence the world we experience. Our thoughts shape our perceptions, affect our emotions, influence our choices, and contribute to the energy we bring into every situation. Each thought can either help expand our consciousness or reinforce the limitations we are attempting to outgrow. There is very little that is truly neutral in the development of consciousness, which is why learning to observe and consciously choose our thoughts becomes an important part of spiritual growth and self-mastery.

From a spiritual perspective, life itself can become our classroom. The people we encounter, the decisions we face, the relationships that challenge us, and even the circumstances we would never have consciously chosen can become opportunities to discover more about ourselves. They can reveal hidden beliefs, unresolved emotions, habitual reactions, and areas where greater wisdom, compassion, courage, or understanding are waiting to emerge. When we learn to observe our experiences from the perspective of our Higher Self rather than reacting automatically from fear or the ego-mind, even difficult circumstances can begin to take on greater meaning.

IFGT offers classes and transformational resources designed to help raise consciousness and develop this greater awareness. As your consciousness expands, you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, motivations, reactions, and choices. You may also begin to recognize connections among people, ideas, experiences, and events that once seemed unrelated. Life begins to appear less like a collection of separate circumstances and more like an interconnected whole in which one thought, decision, or action can create effects far beyond what we immediately see.

Greater awareness can also strengthen intuition and discernment. You may become more sensitive to the energy and intentions within situations, more aware of what lies beneath another person’s words or behavior, and better able to recognize patterns before reacting to them. This does not mean judging others or assuming that every intuitive impression is automatically correct. Rather, it means learning to combine intuition, reason, experience, compassion, and spiritual awareness so that you can make increasingly conscious decisions in every area of your life.

Our most difficult challenges can sometimes become our greatest spiritual teachers. Although they may feel rigorous while we are experiencing them, they can serve as springboards to greater consciousness, wisdom, strength, compassion, and purpose when we are willing to approach them in that spirit. Instead of asking only, “Why is this happening to me?” we can also ask, “What is this experience asking me to understand? What is it revealing about me? How can I respond from a higher level of consciousness?”

This does not mean that every painful experience or suffering should simply be accepted. It means that whatever life brings, we retain the ability to determine what we will create from the experience. We can allow adversity to leave us bitter, fearful, and diminished, or we can gradually transform it into greater understanding and wisdom.

There comes a time when the lesson has been learned and the experience no longer needs to define us. We can step back, acknowledge what it has taught us, release what no longer serves us, and move forward. From that wider perspective, peace becomes easier to find because we are no longer struggling against what has already occurred. We take the wisdom with us while leaving the burden behind.

As we learn to live this way, life becomes more than something that merely happens to us. It becomes a conscious spiritual journey in which every experience offers another opportunity to awaken, to choose, to grow, and to become a clearer expression of the love, wisdom, and higher consciousness already present within us.
